BIBLE TIME

Long Post Alert….

My blog has been dormant for a while; blame it on Law School 1st Year which has taken so much of my time. Finally when I had some time, I became so busy I didn’t even remember my blog existed. Anyway, enough excuses, I have been longing to write this specific one for some time so let’s get into it.

2017 for me came with so many expectations. Having joined University in 2016 for a whole semester and had already killed that anxiety to join campus, I just wanted

to finish the 2nd Semester and go for the Long Holidays. I knew that my Long Holidays were going to be lit and just couldn’t wait. My plans were to go to another country to spend those 4 months but those plans started failing one by one. First, it was the lecturers strike which saw them extend our semester to June. Then, my passport took longer than expected to be processed. The climax of these problems was when I was not granted a Visa by the Embassy, for reasons I didn’t consider valid, but that didn’t change anything. So now there was No time, No Visa. Just like that, Plans had backfired.

At that time, I couldn’t understand why such things happened yet I had prayed about this trip since 2016. God gave me an answer, I found a song by Ada Ehi by the name Jesus that assured me that there is nothing God cannot change. I am not complaining, I might have complained at the time though, but now more than ever I know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28. And because I am still alive and there is still time for me to travel, I will continue giving God all the Glory, Because His timing is perfect.

Let’s Dive in…

Bible Time has two meanings: The common one being Time to read the Bible and the other one, God’s perfect Timing for you. Most of us operate in our Own timing so when things don’t turn out the way we expect them to or when we expect them to, we get discouraged and give up. After all the setbacks I had, My Grandmother told me something, Lets say it’s a Major Key 😂 (And May she live long to give my Children and my Grand Children such advices), She told me, “Victor, Your plans didn’t work out because that was just your own timing, But when God’s time comes, No one will deny you the opportunity”.

God has given us a Few examples in the Bible to show us how his Timing works. Brothers and Sisters in Christ, God has a different way of looking at time. In 2 Peter 3:8, we are told that “With the Lord a day is like a Thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day”. Let’s take the example of Abraham, A man of faith who spent 25 years of his Life waiting for the fulfillment of God’s promise. One night God takes Abraham outside and tells him to look up and count the stars then told him “ So shall your offspring be”. I am sure when Abraham was told that, it raised his hopes because he assumed ‘If God is telling me this now, it won’t be so long until He gives me a son’, but instead He had a 25 year Wait. God’s gift to Abraham came when he was 100, but God never said that He was too old to get a child, He gave it to him at the Best Time.

Throwback to many years in Luke 8:43-48, the woman who had been subject to bleeding for 12 years. Someone may ask, if God wants the best for us, why did He let her have the disease for all those years. One thing is for sure, that God’s plan is always for our Good. So in God’s time, He knew that His only son would be on his way and a woman would touch the helm of his garment. When you are suffering from the disease called Impatience and the other chronic one called Giving up , the best medicine for you is Faith. Bill Bright said, Faith is like a muscle. The more you exercise it, the bigger it grows. Another said, Faith is Like Wi-fi, It is invisible but it will connect you to what you need.

I am currently reading a book called ‘How God makes men’ and there is this part where Patrick Moley says,

Thinking in Bible Time will give you an eternal perspective and help you manage expectations. Whatever God has called you to start, pull an Abraham. Reset your clock and don’t give up. God is testing you. He might test you for decades. Will you trust God to do what seems impossible? Give it a few more years. Give God a chance to bring glory to Himself by fulfilling your longing.

You have been assigned this mountain, to show others it can be moved.
Have faith in God, because He who promised is Faithful.

Peace.
